I’m in transition now. I actually thought I’d sleep in since I don’t technically have work tomorrow.. but I woke up at a reasonable time. Had breakfast with the roommates and pretty much was restless.
I swam a bit.. but it was really short. I don’t think I’m a workaholic.. but I guess I don’t like laying around.
I’ll be doing a quick drug test tomorrow morning and then I’ll do the good son bit and take my mom to see my cousin in Irvine.
On to some emails:
FUNK,
WHY DO YOU ROX SO HARD?!
POD
Dear POD,
I really don’t know how to answer that so I guess I won’t.
Hi Funk,
Long time lurker. Quick question on Koreans. I plan on living over there for at least a year and I’ll be living in Daejun. I’m pretty excited and I’m actually looking forward to finding me some korean babes (I’m Mexican). My friends are telling me, there’s a slim chance to none that I won’t be able to score. What do you think?
Luchador
Dear Luchador,
Congrats on living in Korea. I’m going to take a wild guess and assume that you’re going over there as a teacher or you’re going to be stationed there. Korea is a funny little country with oddities and somewhat weird traditions. So please keep that in mind while you wander off around the cities or even in the pubs around Daejun (Daejun is pretty tame though). If at all, just go with the flow and get used to being stared at.
As for you picking up on Korean girls…that’s going to be pretty tough. Koreans are very very ignorant and have generalized most stereotypes. Simply put… Koreans are somewhat racist. It’s improved, but I wouldn’t say we’re as open as the Japanese (my opinion of course). I personally wouldn’t suggest you go up to a girl at a bar and try to spit your game. It won’t work and the few Korean words that stumble out of your mouth will probably make her reject you even more. A direct approach is just no bueno.
A buddy of mine actually mentioned how he got with some girls while he was there teaching English.
He freaking took dancing classes!! Hell, you’re Mexican… samba, swing dancing, ballroom dancing, etc.., you name it. Believe it or not… not many Korean guys take classes so your male to female ratio is going to be exponentially high. Also, girls there will feel as though they’re in a protected setting and you’ll usually see them drop down their guard.
I pretty much told you where the goldmine is.. you’ll just have to dig it up now.
Best of Luck,
